    A comprehensive book, Silk Stocking Mats Hooked Mats of the Grenfell Mission focusing on the history of the Grenfell Industrial by Paula Laverty was released in August 2005.     Paula Laverty has curated three exhibitions of the hooked mats of the Grenfell Mission and has published two articles: "Grenfell Mats" is the catalog of "Northern Scenes: Hooked Mats of the Grenfell Mission" @ The Museum Of American Folk Art, Hudson River Press, 1994 (The same article first appeared in Folk Art magazine, Fall/Winter 1993).

    Ronald Rompkey, professor of English at Memorial University, St. John's, touches on literary elements of Wilfred Grenfell's autobiography in "Elements of Spiritual Autobiography in Sir Wilfred Grenfell's A Labrador Doctor," Newfoundland Studies, 1 (1985): 17-28. He discusses the many biographies of Grenfell in "Heroic Biography and the Life of Sir Wilfred Grenfell," Prose Studies, 12 (1989): 159-73.

     Dr. Rompkey's own biography of Grenfell is available in both hardcover and paper: Grenfell of Labrador: A Biography. Toronto: University of Toronto Press, 1991.

     Dr. Rompkey has also edited the journal of Dr. Eliot Curwen, who accompanied Grenfell to Labrador in 1893, also available in paper under the title Labrador Odyssey: The Journal and Photographs of Eliot Curwen on the Second Voyage of Wilfred Grenfell, 1893. Montreal and Kingston: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1996.

      Jessie Luther at the Grenfell Mission edited by Dr. Ronald Rompkey and published by McGill- Queens University Press, 2000, is a fascinating look at the Grenfell Mission's early days and chronicles the beginnings of the Grenfell Industrial through Jessie Luther's journal writings.
